Baby’s Eye turns your camera into a window onto how an infant sees the world at different ages in their first year. Point it around and switch between age stages to watch the blurry, near-greyscale newborn view sharpen into full colour.
Getting started
- Open the App and allow camera access when prompted.
- Use the age selector at the bottom to change the simulated stage.
- Tap the camera button to save a snapshot, or the info button to read about how vision and hearing develop.
Frequently asked questions
Why is the image blurry?
That’s the point! Newborns see at roughly 20/200–20/400 and focus best at about 20–30 cm. Switch to an older stage to see vision sharpen.
The camera preview is black
Camera access is probably off. Enable it in
Settings › Baby’s Eye › Camera. Note the preview needs a
real device — the camera does not work in the Simulator.
My captured photo didn’t save
The App needs permission to add photos. Turn it on in
Settings › Baby’s Eye › Photos (choose “Add Photos
Only” or “Full Access”).
Is this a medical or diagnostic tool?
No. Baby’s Eye is an artistic approximation for curious parents, not a clinical simulation. Every baby develops at their own pace. If you have concerns about your child’s vision or hearing, please speak with your pediatrician.
Does the App collect my data?
No. Nothing is collected, stored, or transmitted. See our Privacy Policy.
